Successfully operating out of Arizona since 1992, MainSpring Capital Group is a privately held company specializing in the acquisition and development of commercial real estate property. MainSpring and its affiliates have a historical ownership of over 8.5 million square feet of industrial product and 1.6 million square feet of office product, 2 million combined square feet of which were personally developed.
This small team boasts extensive experience; our Principals are personally involved in each transaction, and operate with a commitment to integrity that has been proven through the ongoing relationships with our investors, financial institutions, lessees, and construction and development teams. Our Team
Marty Farnsworth
Marty is one of the original founders of MainSpring Capital Group. Since its start in 1992, he has been intimately involved in all aspects of MainSpring’s business, his main focus being project and company strategy, and capitalization of new project developments.
Early in his career, Marty worked at Trammell Crow Company in Phoenix, Denver, and Salt Lake City, in capacities from leasing agent to partner, with a particular focus on industrial development.
In 1994 he founded Excel Advisory Group to provide a specified range of consulting services to a select group of national and international real estate companies. Since then, Excel has advised its clients on acquisitions exceeding $22 billion in value.
Marty earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard.
Mills Brown
An original founder of MainSpring Capital Group, Mills has personally participated in each project and transaction of MainSpring. His efforts revolve around securing universally beneficial contracts in both acquisitions and dispositions.
Mills’ diverse career began in 1975 with four years of touring as a professional golfer. Following that, he joined Scott Jackson Brokerage as a commercial sales and leasing agent, where he quickly rose to success. As a partner with Jackson Brown Investments, Mills became more involved in the development and investment side of commercial real estate.
Now, in addition to MainSpring, Mills also serves on the Board of Directors for Jones Soda. Until 2012, when he sold his remaining interest, he also held significant ownership interest in multiple automobile dealerships in the Phoenix area.
Mills earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Arizona State University.
Gerry Blomquist
Gerry joined MainSpring Capital Group as a principal in 1994. In the time since, his focus has been on new pursuits revolving around land acquisition and development, a major project being Pima Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Earlier in his career, Gerry dedicated his abilities to executive level management in banking and finance, real estate development, and the public equities market. He served as Vice President and Southwest Regional Director during his tenure with Perini Corporation and Perini Investment Properties, positions that allowed him to oversee land development and investment activities both domestically and abroad.
Gerry also spent time with Resolution Trust Corporation and T.P. Moore, which afforded him the opportunity to focus on converting non-performing loans into profitable holdings, and generate a nationwide portfolio of rehabilitated commercial property acquisitions.
Gerry earned a Bachelor of Science and MBA in Financial Management from the University of Utah. He is also a graduate of the United States Special Warfare School with an emphasis on international relations.
Penny Hughey
In 1976, Penny began her career as a bookkeeper for a major drug company, also gaining experience in retail, manufacturing, inventory and distribution accounting.
Since beginning work with MainSpring Capital Group in 1998, Penny has added property management and construction accounting to her vast accounting experience. She currently oversees all aspects of the accounting division.
Angela Arenas
Angela joined MainSpring Capital Group in 2014 as an Executive Assistant. A resource for all departments, she is known as the “orchestra conductor” helping get all transactions across the finish line. Utilizing a strong background in administrative work, she has steadily grown her role to also include Office Management.
Angela earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Arizona State University.
